Pierre-Antoine shared his main key learnings following the acquisition with the startups from the 21st accelerator, after 10 years of developing the platform in the US.
In summary:
• Your partner is your first investor : Trust yourselves; the understanding with your co-founder is essential. Everyone has an opinion on everything, but you are in charge.
• The importance of distribution, including the API integration of Sketchfab across all graphic creation and distribution channels.
• Unwavering commercial perseverance… Always believe, even after 8 years.
• Benevolent and empathetic management, to go the distance with your team.
• Staying up-to-date on legal aspects, paying for good lawyers from the start, and locking down the company structure, share ownership plans, cap table, etc.
• Taking care of yourself and avoiding survivor bias by not over-reading news about huge funding rounds, etc.
