BioArtLung

How to improve the lives of people awaiting lung transplants?

The startup is developing a portable artificial lung device, allowing patients to remain mobile while awaiting transplant or recovery.

A total, biomimetic, extracorporeal, miniaturized artificial lung, capable of oxygenating and decarboxylating blood – a true cardiopulmonary support unit.

It will be a new therapeutic solution for patients suffering from terminal respiratory diseases (SARS-CoV-2, Pulmonary Hypertension,...), taking over their lung function while awaiting recovery or a transplant.

Specifically, a miniaturized biomimetic artificial lung will offer patients:

1. Long-term use and reduced complications

2. Portability, allowing the patient to move during therapy

3. Transportability, allowing for care outside the hospital. This project is a collaborative multidisciplinary project between the Saint-Joseph Hospital Group, the Paris-Saclay Electrical and Electronic Engineering Laboratory, and the startup Eden Tech.
