Ed.AI, an Edtech startup founded in September 2024 by Jonathan Banon (CEO, former founder of Le Livre Scolaire), Cédric Bignon (CTO, formerly of Microsoft), and Rémi Mazières (Chief Learning Officer, formerly of Le Choix de l’École), announces it has raised 1.7 million euros in funding.
Secured from Ring Capital via their Generations fund powered by EDHEC, AFI Ventures (Ventech's impact fund), and CentraleSupélec Venture, this funding round aims to accelerate the deployment of its AI Assistant designed for teachers.
The educational challenge Ed.AI is tackling is significant: to offer teachers additional time to support their classes and students with their individual and collective shortcomings, without imposing a new way of working on teachers or additional screen time on underage students.
Studies show that student academic success is directly correlated with the support they receive from their teachers. Ed.AI therefore optimizes educational follow-up and facilitates the implementation of remediation or differentiation pathways, in order to guide a greater number of students towards success.
The solution, which is available for three subjects: mathematics, French, and history-geography, is currently being piloted at 40 institutions in the Academy of Lyon, reaching 4000 students.
‍
“We firmly believe that the teacher is the most powerful lever for student progress. With Ed.AI, we give them the tools to maximize their impact,” explains Jonathan Banon, CEO and co-founder of Ed.AI.
‍
‍

‍
“Ed.AI stems from our field experience. We designed this assistant with the aim of integrating into teachers' existing routines to help them, without them having to change proven methods. Moreover, two of the funds supporting us are affiliated with higher education institutions (Ring Capital's Generations fund powered by EDHEC and Centrale Supélec),” explains Rémi Mazières, Chief Learning Officer at Ed.AI.

AI that gives teachers back time and improves student support
Each week, a teacher spends an average of 6 hours grading papers. This is essential time, but it limits their ability to individually support each student. Ed.AI automates and optimizes this grading process, allowing teachers to dedicate more attention to pedagogical remediation.

Technology for Education
Designed to seamlessly integrate into teachers' practices, Ed.AI is built on artificial intelligence accessible via a web platform and a mobile application. By scanning student submissions, the AI analyzes errors, identifies gaps, and offers personalized remediation paths in printable or digital format.
To summarize, Ed.AI's value proposition is to offer;
â—Ź Intelligent automated correction, combining the power of AI with human verification to ensure accurate and reliable correction.
â—Ź Personalized educational support, through adapted materials (printable or digital depending on profiles and learning paths) to assist students facing difficulties.
â—Ź Seamless integration into existing practices, with no additional screen time for students and without imposing new constraints on teachers.
Ed.AI positions itself as a concrete and innovative response to current educational challenges, offering teachers a powerful AI assistant to better support each student towards success.
‍
"Education is a sector that will be profoundly transformed by the rise of AI. At AFI Ventures, we firmly believe that this technology should serve teachers and pedagogy. This is precisely what captivated us about the founders' vision: using AI to free up teachers' time and enable them to provide more personalized support to each student." explains Constantin de Chaudenay, Senior Associate at AFI Ventures.
‍
Congratulations to the Ed.AI team for this exceptional milestone! We are proud to support you.
