[Hardware] Focus on the collaboration between Galinios & La Fabrique, CentraleSupélec's FabLab

Galinios helps farmers protect their spring crops from bird damage through an autonomous bird deterrent system consisting of a fixed station that can be installed in a field and is capable of monitoring 3 hectares of crops in real-time.

Currently accelerated by 21st, this innovative hardware project, led by Aurélien Amoureux (CS alumnus) and Clément Garrigue (CS student), started a collaboration in early 2022 with La Fabrique, CentraleSupélec's FabLab

Initially, to gain perspective and talk with farmers, in order to define the key functions and constraints the solution needed to incorporate.

Before developing an autonomous "proof of concept" prototype, capable of identifying predators and alerting the farmer in real-time. This device was then deployed in a field, under real conditions for 3 months, to train the AI for visual recognition and to test the device as a whole.

This experiment and the insights gained fueled the subsequent iterative phase: improving autonomy, computing power, and the algorithm, adding new features, and adapting to environmental conditions.

At the end of September, this new iteration was deployed at AgroParisTech's Farm'InnLab. This crucial step will allow for the validation of the entire solution before further development.

So, if you are also developing a hardware project and wish to benefit from the infrastructure and expertise of La Fabrique's teams, come and meet them.
