A French deeptech pioneer in AI-powered precision immunology, Scienta Lab announces the closing of a €4 million seed funding round with CentraleSupélec Venture and several Business Angels.

This investment aims to strengthen its technological and biomedical teams to accelerate its research activities in Europe and the United States. This initial funding round marks a major step in Scienta Lab's ambition to solidify its leadership in AI applied to the research and development of new drugs in immunology and inflammation.

AI for Precision Medicine

Autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and Crohn's disease, affect between 5 and 7% of the population but remain very poorly understood. Current treatments offered by the pharmaceutical industry have been developed with a very generalized approach, and their effectiveness reflects this: for a third of patients, the recommended medication has little to no effect.

Founded in 2021, Scienta Lab is developing a more in-depth understanding of these diseases and their variability from patient to patient, aiming to evolve this 'mass-market and standardized' medicine towards precision medicine.

To achieve this, Scienta Lab relies on AI, specifically on the emerging foundation model technology, which allows for the easy and rapid generation of new scientific hypotheses. It has developed EVA, the first foundation model 100% dedicated to immunology and inflammation. Trained on a vast amount of data describing clinical symptoms, biological perturbations, and genomic profiles, it accelerates the entire drug discovery process, from identifying therapeutic targets to understanding their biological mechanism of action and characterizing the subgroup of patients who will benefit from the treatment.

“Scienta Lab was born from the desire to transform our understanding of the immune system and its pathologies through the technological advancements offered by AI. For over two years, we have been working on the convergence of medical, technological, and pharmaceutical expertise to offer better therapeutic options to patients suffering from autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. Thanks to this first funding round, we will accelerate these efforts to make precision medicine a reality for these patients today” explains Camille Bouget, CEO and co-founder of Scienta Lab.

Building Scienta Lab's international ecosystem

To achieve this, Scienta Lab welcomes the fund CentraleSupélec Venture, after being supported by the CentraleSupélec Foundation, accompanied for 2 years by CentraleSupélec's 21st accelerator, as well as recognized business angels such as Flavien Kulawik (co-founder of KLB Group).

The founding team plans to focus this new investment on two main areas: [SEG 10] ‍

● Recruitment to strengthen the technological and biomedical teams, in order to improve AI technology and its applications in pharmaceutical R&D,

● R&D through the development of a network of scientific partners in Europe and the United States, as well as accelerating technological development to support the

company's business development.

With its highly verticalized approach focused on immunology, Scienta Lab is developing a unique position and aims to increase its leadership in this vast, yet underserved market.

‍

The goal?

To develop much more effective drugs for a well-characterized subset of patients.

" Building on the excellence of its founders, Scienta Lab expertly blends the power of AI with high-quality scientific research to make precision medicine a reality. We are proud to support Scienta Lab in this incredible and hopeful endeavor for all affected patients. " says Cédric Curtil, Executive Director of CentraleSupélec Venture.

“Scienta Lab was born from the desire to transform our understanding of the immune system and its pathologies through technological advancements offered by AI. Thanks to this first funding round, we will accelerate our efforts to make precision medicine a present-day reality for these patients.” Camille Bouget, CEO and Co-founder of Scienta Lab.
