The SOL project, led by Zakaria Djebbour & James Connolly, aims to interconnect two complementary 3T tandem cells (with inverted P and N doping) to enable them to work together as a single unit (2T block).
This new connection method allows these cells to form a two-terminal device, which facilitates the combination of several units into a more efficient solar module.
What is the current status of their project?
- A patent WO/2017/093695 already filed in 2016 and validated in France, the United States, China, and Europe for the 3T tandem solar cell.
- New invention disclosure, patent being drafted
- Achieved a Proof of Concept : Development of a physical demonstrator for the interconnection of two 3T tandem cells.
Technological maturity: TRL 2
