Maintenance for dams, ships, and nuclear facilities still relies on manual labor, often performed in confined spaces and involving exposure to asbestos and lead. Nio Robotics addresses this with an end-to-end solution—integrating hardware, software, and physical AI into its first robotic operator: Aru.
Aru handles stripping, repainting, and welding. Whether magnetized or climbing along a structure, it manages the entire process. Deploying in fleets eliminates the need for scaffolding and reduces post-operation inspections, resulting in cost savings and faster turnaround times through qualified, repeatable robotic processes. Nio Robotics offers this fleet via a SaaS model to operators who already master the processes Aru performs and have deep expertise in the industries where it is deployed.

The next step
Aru is already in the field with two paying industrial clients, EDF Hydro and Naval Group, and successfully completed its first laser-stripping campaign on a penstock in the Alps in August 2026. Founded with a €5M seed round raised in March 2024 from LNE SM Holding, the team now numbers around 35 employees and is preparing for its Series A. Structured commercialization is underway, driven by exponential operational demand to produce, deploy, maintain, and deliver value during Aru's first large-scale operations.
