The APER law mandates the solarization of tens of thousands of parking lots in France by 2026-2028, representing 17,000 to 38,000 projects over three years. Faced with this deadline, the solar carport market still relies on heavy, expensive, and slow-to-install metal structures.
SUUN changes the approach by treating the carport as a true infrastructure project: ultra-high-performance fiber-reinforced concrete (UHPFRC) pillars and patented tension cables, with spans reaching up to 30 meters. The result: fewer foundations and soil studies, construction sites that are twice as fast, a structure that is cheaper than traditional steel framing, and up to a 70% reduction in carbon footprint, equivalent to 124 tCO₂e avoided per typical installation. Four patents are targeted, with filings in France and European extensions.
The model is based on selling the structure and co-financing self-consumption projects, distributed through already operational solar partners—a channel that validates the market and allows for rapid deployment without building an in-house sales network. Manufacturing is secured through an industrial partnership with the FEHR Group, which guarantees priority supply of UHPFRC elements at its prefabrication sites in Bischwiller and Achern. Maintenance and referral fees supplement revenue with recurring cash flows. The target market extends well beyond France: a European TAM of €79 billion and a SAM of €9.6 billion, with a long-term target distribution of 65% France, 12% Germany, and the remainder in Italy, Spain, the Benelux, and the UK.
The next step
SUUN is currently industrializing its carport in preparation for the delivery of its first two pilot sites: the factories in Bischwiller, France, and Achern, Germany. Two immediate projects will shape the coming months: finalizing the fundraising and installing the first carport at these sites. The trajectory following these milestones aims for break-even by FY28, with €208 million in cumulative revenue over FY26-31, and €96 million in revenue and €16 million in EBITDA by FY31.
Why 21st by CentraleSupélec?
SUUN is looking to 21st by CentraleSupélec for its network and expertise, particularly to advance its R&D efforts. The accelerator's dynamism is a key factor, especially through the partnership with AgroParisTech, which paves the way for work on agri-PV.
